Crystal Spring Water comes from a unique, naturally flowing spring in Middletown, RI. We have been bottling from this proven source since 1907. We test our water daily to verify that it is of extremely high quality
Crystal Spring Natural Spring Water meets all federal and state health standards. The FDA regulates bottled water as a food product whereas the EPA regulates tap water provided by water utilities. Standards of quality enacted by FDA for bottled water must be as protective of the public health as EPA’s standards (known as maximum contaminate levels) for tap water. Ensuring the safety of the water is our primary objective in providing our product to the consumer.
At Crystal Spring we use a multi-barrier approach to ensure the safety and high quality of our natural spring water. This begins with source protection and monitoring, and continues with multiple stages of filtration, ultra violet light and finally ozonation to guard against any chemical and microbiological contaminates, including Cryptosporidium. We use ozone, instead of chlorine, as a final sanitizing agent in our bottling process because it leaves no residual and does not create a taste or odor problem. Ozone is a form of oxygen which is bubbled through the water just before it goes into a clean sanitized bottle. Within a few hours after the bottle has been filled and capped, the ozone dissipates or converts back to the same form of oxygen that we breathe and, in the process, ensures that the water and container are free of bacteria.
Crystal Spring Water is tested daily in our own in house laboratory for bacteria, pH, and total dissolved solids. In addition, we have an independent lab test two samples each week and the Rhode Island Dept. of Health does regular analysis to verify water quality. The FDA requires that we test for 131 organic chemicals and 44 inorganic chemicals and as an extra safeguard we also test for 34 unregulated contaminants. No contaminants have been detected as shown on the following analysis report.
